From Pastor Brady
But as it is, God arranged the members in the body, each one of them, as he chose. – 1 Corinthians 12:18
Sometimes in churches they say “20% of the people do 80% of the work.” I don’t believe that for Grace Baptist Church. I am proud to be part of a church where so any different people are finding ways to serve the Kingdom of Christ. When I think about the people of Grace, I think about all the many ways that people are serving and working hard for the advance of the gospel, in both little and big ways. And I also know that so many of us are doing things that I will never even know about.
Of course there is still room for improvement. Some people may be serving but not necessarily in areas where they are spiritually gifted. Others may not be serving at all. Many may have no idea what their giftedness is.
Some may be caught up in either superiority or inferiority when it comes to serving. That is what our Fighter Verse is trying to prevent. God chose the members. God placed the members in the body. No one should feel superior or inferior to anyone else in the Body of Christ. If the gifts are about putting others first and meeting needs, then an attitude of superiority or inferiority nullifies all the joy that you are supposed to receive from using your gift.
Grace Gives is about love. It is about joy. It is about God working through us. It is about you being part of something bigger than yourself. If you are a Christian, then you are already a part of something bigger than yourself. Grace Gives offers a tangible reminder of this. We are Kingdom people. Each day we must decide if we will build Christ’s Kingdom or our own little kingdom.
You are a unique member of the body. You are invited into an opportunity to be part of what God is doing. Let’s pray that we will see God at work these next days as we prepare and execute Grace Gives. Where is God at work? What is He already doing? How can we join Him there? How can we make the invisible God visible to our community and neighbors? How can you use your unique gifts to serve both the Body and the world around you?
Lord, reveal to us where you are at work in our little corner of the world. We desire to make you known. Through Christ we know that we are filled with your fullness and that we have everything that we need. Fill us with love and compassion for our neighbors. Give us physical, emotional, and mental strength. Use our diversity to bring unity to this Body- your body. Amen.
